Eastman Guitars as we know them today, was established soon after with an emphasis on producing high quality, high value, affordable guitars. After earning a reputation for his fine stringed instruments and bows, Qian decided to branch out into archtop guitars. Subsequently, he hired a group of highly skilled violin makers and went on to establish a large workshop where they could produce high quality, handcrafted instruments. Having previously bought his instruments from Western trained Violin makers in China, Qian decided that a different approach was needed. Eastman Strings was founded in 1992 by Qian Ni, a student from China who moved to America to study music.
